At last some new work

Why at Last?

The time has come for a long-overdue update to my website. After much work on the site  and of course some photography, I have accumulated new images that have had to wait to be processed. The revamped site will now showcase all new work through blog posts, while the portfolio section will see both additions and subtractions, ensuring it remains a curated collection of my best work.

In a world where platforms like Instagram dominate with a continuous stream of images and the rapid proliferation of AI-generated content, one might question the relevance of maintaining a personal website. However, I believe there are several compelling reasons for doing so.

Firstly, updating my website allows me to review my past work critically, removing pieces that no longer meet my standards. Secondly, it creates a tangible body of work that I can revisit, reflect upon, and appreciate. Finally, I hold on to the hope that, amidst the current social media landscape, dedicated websites will regain popularity, reaching an audience eager for thoughtful presentations of art.

I have observed many websites, some exceptional in their diversity and creativity, while others appear to be hastily composed, often conforming to algorithmic trends. Though this may be the prevailing norm, I do not subscribe to that approach, as it tends in my view to stifle creativity and genuine development in art.

In this blog, I am excited to present a selection of new images captured during the winter months. These include stunning scenes from Waxham Beach in Norfolk, where the light can be truly spectacular under the expansive Norfolk skies, and evocative winter vistas from Yorkshire, complete with snow and mist. As a landscape photographer, these elements are exactly what I love to capture.

Additionally, I am in the process of curating a new presentation titled "Timeless East Anglia." This talk will feature both new works and cherished favorites from my region, and I anticipate unveiling it in December 25. Stay tuned for a celebration of the beauty of East Anglia through my lens.
